Pahle India Foundation (PIF) is an FCRA certified, not for profit policy think tank, established in June 2013 as a Section 8 company. PIF is registered with Niti Aayog under NGO Darpan. At PIF, we work towards this objective by undertaking research and disseminating its findings to try and achieve the necessary paradigm shift in development thinking and practices in India, thereby influencing policy formulation.

In the past three years, PIF researchers have brought out 142 publications including 5 books and 13 reports/studies; contributed to over 130 articles to newspapers and magazines; organized 22 seminars/roundtables; and completed 14 commissioned projects. This has been a good start, which we now wish to give fresh impetus and momentum by mobilizing more resources and engaging more researchers which will permit us to undertake independent, rigorous and objective policy oriented research.

To this end, PIF is accepting contributions towards creating a corpus or as research grants that will allow it to undertake research on critical areas based on comprehensive research.

All contributions made to PIF are exempt from income tax as per Section 80G (5)(vi) of the Income Tax Act of 1961. In accordance with General Circular No. 21/2014, page 11, point 6, issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, research grants given to PIF comes under CSR under the category of “promoting education” as per Schedule VII of the Companies Act 2013.
