Ishan’s areas of academic interest include geostrategy, conflict management and foreign policy. A former media professional, he has held leadership positions in national newspapers such as The Statesman and The Pioneer, and with international media platforms like the Singapore-based Asia News Network over a 30-year career. He was also the founder Editor-in-Chief & Director of Fomento Media, Goa.

Ishan has been a faculty member at Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines, where he taught postgraduate courses, and guest faculty at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi. He successfully completed the War Correspondents’ Course conducted by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, in the 1990s.

Ishan has a BA (History Hons) from St Stephen’s College, Delhi University, and an MA with Distinction in Asian Politics from the University of Hull, United Kingdom. He is a recipient of the British Chevening Fellowship for Young Journalists as well as the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies.
