The gold ecosystem in India, despite of numerous reforms in the recent times, is still riddled with various problems such as transparency, price discovery, and standardisation among many others. Moreover, the business of gold has multiple regulators and ministries controlling the various aspects of the business. Pahle India Foundation believes that the business of gold could benefit with the establishment of a Self-Regulatory Organisation (SRO), which can help these regulators and ministries in framing uniform regulatory guidelines and further support in development of market infrastructure. This study aims to create a model framework for establishing a gold SRO in India.
