Sila Mishra is an Economist at Pahlé India Foundation and has recently submitted her Ph.D. thesis in Economics at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. Her research interests lie in Development Economics, Applied Microeconomics, and the Economics of Family and Gender. Drawing multidisciplinary insights from economics, psychology, and sociology, and employing large-scale survey datasets, her work examines how individuals and households allocate their time across market work, non-market work and leisure, and the implications of these decisions for well-being, inequality, and broader measures of social welfare. Her research combines empirical methods, including causal inference techniques, with a strong interest in addressing policy-relevant questions. Alongside her doctoral research, she was an Urban Studies Foundation Fellow at the Centre for Policy Research (CPR), where she conducted research on work-related mobility and kinship networks using large-scale survey data. She also has teaching experience as an Assistant Professor of Economics. Beyond academic life, she enjoys listening to music and taking care of plants.
