Affirming the interconnectedness between people, animals, plants and their shared environment in achieving optimum health outcomes, we at Pahle India Foundation, have recently started a knowledge hub on One Health. Our first initiative is LEAP-Lead Elimination Action Project, through which we aim to bring together experts from various fields across the country to develop a comprehensive plan to eliminate lead poisoning from India.
Lead poisoning affects one in two Indian children and can cause severe cognitive and physical impairments as the child grows up. With multiple direct and indirect pathways into the human body including air, soil, water, spices, paint, candies etc., a holistic approach is required to minimise exposure and mitigate its effects.
