In collaboration with MUFG, PIF convened a high-level roundtable to explore practical pathways for decarbonising heavy industry and transportation—two of the most “hard-to-abate” sectors in our journey toward Net Zero. The discussion, opened by our Chairperson, Dr Rajiv Kumar, underscored a critical reality: India’s growth ambitions must be seamlessly aligned with cleaner industrial pathways. We were honored to have Takuya Senoo (MUFG) provide a global financial perspective on the vital role of long-term Indo–Japan collaboration in scaling sustainable tech. Dr Sunita Narain from Centre for Science and Environment, New Delhi, as a keynote speaker, challenged us to move beyond incremental compliance toward systemic shifts in steel and transport.
- Key Themes included:
Moving beyond compliance to systemic change
Scaling Green Hydrogen & Fuel Cells
Near-term wins through scrap-based steelmaking
Learning from Japan’s safety & tech frameworks
