Pahlé India Foundation’s 10th anniversary is an occasion to celebrate our journey thus far, but also to re-align our purpose to help seize the ‘India Moment’. It is a short window of opportunity for the country to realize its demographic dividend and unlock the productive and innovative potential of its youth cohort. The policies we adopt until the end of this decade will be crucial to achieving India’s aspirations.

History shows us that no country can fulfil its economic aims, pursue its development objectives, realise its geostrategic ambitions, or shape the world order without a homegrown knowledge ecosystem. This is critically needed to aid, abet, and translate the vision of policymakers into action.

However, the Indian social science and public policy-oriented knowledge ecosystem has yet to sufficiently evolve to be able to serve the above purpose. No Indian think tank features in the Top 20 of the 2019 Global Go to Think Tank Index Report, published by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP). PIF is committed to building a high-quality, globally-recognized think tank, which will attract the necessary support of Indian philanthropists and the corporate sector.

With its commitment to growing a homegrown knowledge ecosystem rooted in Indian realities, PIF will be able to better serve the policy requirements of government at all levels.

In a dynamic and ever-changing world, it is imperative to foster trust-based dialogue and consistent feedback between economic agents and policymakers.
